HKTV life - the beginning [written a year ago]
This post was written in April, 2015. I was on vacation and in the ship traveling from Split to Hvar.
And somehow I left it hidden for a year before posting in here. Anyway, this is what I felt like back in the day working as programmer in HKTV, the best ever experience.

It has been a long time since my last post.
What I have been doing so far is fun and full of excitement. For those who still not known, I have change my daily role and work for HKTV as a programmer. A job that I fully committed. I would say working in here is absolutely the best choice out there in HK. We work as hard as we could to deliver the best experience to HK - a place that I live and love .
Let's sum up my HKTV life in here.
During the past 11 months, I work with the iOS team and bring the first application of hktv OTT (TV)and hktvmall (shopping) on iPhone and iPad . this has been a challenge for both the designer and developer. As we create, we are short of time and even the core experience for user is kind of unclear and difficult for them.
However, it has a lot of improvement as we continue to update the app. Thanks for the comment out there. We read them all and keep pushing things forward.
On top of the app. I also start the phrase 2 enhancement of website. Yup. I agree with you, it was suck. It is more difficult than I imagine to deliver the improvement to the user. And What is mean by "improvement" for our user and HKTV BTW.
For me, website is need to be load fast and in a progressive manner. Therefore we tackle issues on JavaScript runtime and network issue in the beginning. I would say memory issue is still a major aspect on desktop browser in particular with a lot of image src we have, it will require a resizing on every images we have (OMG) to adjust the resolution present to user (this is also the case on android and IOS, but we use another native approach to knockout the monster ).
Let's talk about the tools. For the web, we are equipped with intellij ultimate, Chrome devtools and wireshark. We use sass for CSS to speed up and organize a bit. For loading script, we use yuicombo to batch all the scripts in a few http requests.
Hopefully we can talk more on DOM rendering performance in next article.
